You see, they have a network of secret command submarines, and when they open the door to their home world (inside the hollow earth) some of the ocean drains out (low tide) and then they pump the water out so the door can be opened again without flooding their domain (high tide). Eclipses are simply an error with the day/night reflector on the sun. Since it is always above us, it would always be visible if it weren't for the reflector. It's all pretty much common sense, when you think about it.
