dota is dying but you can try it now because after like 4 years they decided to make an actual update that changed things up. But I think it's best to let go, Valve will probably abandon the game soon anyway since CS:GO is like 5 times bigger now. Unless you just want to fuck around with your low mmr friends which is the only sane way of playing dota actually
