I mostly fence foil (the three weapons are different games in and of themselves), and enjoy how personal the exchanges are and how much you have to learn to regulate your emotions to execute actions properly. It really highlights people's (and your own) detachments with reality in real time and you're forced to face them if you care about results. Again, it's the same with most other sports except you get to stab people and there aren't any weight categories.
