democracy sounds good in theory but the problem is that most people are fucking retarded, maybe you value giving people the freedom to vote more than the actual quality of outcomes but if you value the outcome the most then the idiocy of the populace is a huge problem, maybe you can compromise by attempting to make the population less retarded, or maybe tighter restrictions on who's allowed to vote, say requiring some assorted tests, maybe you reduce the weight of the general public's votes or revoke the public's voting privileges altogether which is a whole nother can of worms
