See, one of the most insightful phrases I've heard stated "People don't believe things because of facts, people believe things because of the stories they get to tell about themselves." If these followers spent YEARS listening to this guy, waiting for the time for an uprising, spending money on guns, don't-tread-on-me flags, and put their hearts and souls into the power of believing in Q, such a reveal would make them completely short-circuit. They wouldn't be able to function. Therefore, I think that, like the followers of complete cults like Jonestown, Scientology and the sort, they would instead choose to keep believing anyway to preserve the very little sanity they had to begin with.
Hell, some of them think belief itself is a supernatural force that, isolated on it's own, can change the world's physics
