The fact that, in the past, it HAS been possible to actually issue banknotes/paper currency without inflation or major economic issue, should be inspiration to those who actually wish to fix our current situation.
Like you said, the last time the USA has debt-free currency was when JFK was in office. The only other president that I can remember who openly advocated for debt-free currency was Abraham Lincoln (can you guess what happened to both of them?).
