the whole russia-OPEC agreement was to prevent this scenario in the first place, because no one actually wants those war scenarios but no one also wants to be short on oil. this only started because the low demand was going to sink russia's economy too much for them to accept and they decided to play a gamble with saudi arabia to see who can squeeze the most out of the current market or take a massive loss, since saudi arabia's economy is more hyperdependent on their oil profits, while russia's is more diversified (so russia has more interest in gaining, but has less to lose)
