The harvest is about collecting the worthy soul. They will conduct a harvest at the very moment that they have found what they are looking for. They would kill billions, to harvest 1 person. We are, basically, considered production waste.
There's a very specific reason that they're looking for 'worthy souls' and collecting them, and this is why they believe they are helping us. It has something to do with what comes after the universe, which is nothing any of us know about, but they are moving with great speed and confidence on this subject. They need 13 souls. They have 6. They have been moving on the next cataclysm, we believe they have identified the 'worthy soul' of our current cycle of life.
Their methods are as follows:
