i'll try to give you a quick rundown
god created everything, god owns everything, god IS life
when adam and eve rejected god they were rejecting life, so there were consequences
same with the people at the time of noah, god gave them a Biiig flood that killed them
but god was like "that shit sucks, i love humans i don't wanna kill them" and so he was like "i will never do it again, and to remind myself i will use the rainbow a symbow", the raindow sympolizes a bow pointing upwords, he was saying if people are sinning again he will take his life instead
that is later elaborated on when god asks abraham to kill his own son (to see if abraham loves god as much as god loves humans) and abraham was ready to do it, that's when god said "stooop, i will provide instead a lamb, you can find him amid the thorns over there", that lamb was christ, the son of god, who is also god
and as for the wood, it symbolizes the fruit tree, the one that doomed humanity to a life away from god, so instead through the wood are humans saved
>but couldn't he just snap his fingershe could do whatever he wants to
>so why be so dramatiche could do whatever he wants to

as for the system of sacrifices, it is the early humans, who were repenting, who started to perform sacrifices in god's name. god made deals with people, and so all that was part of the deal. he just did it in such a way that humans benefit as much as possible (which includes teaching us lessons)
