My take away from the household net worth chart is that american households broadly perceive themselves as rich. But as this money is really just a redeemable token for goods and services (primarily from the domestic economy) there seems to be a lot more claims to resources than there are actual resources. Furthermore this disparity seems to be increasing at a rapid pace.
