in the OT but you'd probably call it all mental gymnastics because the genealogy is a giant confusing mess. TLDR version is modern Jews basically retconned themselves into the Bible to trick stupid Christians into supporting them and Israel, which was never really their land. Arguably some decendants of the tribe of Judah have some claim to some of the land, but very few jews today are even descendants of the tribe of Judah. Most people living in Israel today are Ashkenazi, I.E. converts, not even Hebrew by blood let alone Israelites or Judeans. Jews occasionally admit to this even.
