If the interior of a stamp is shiny, this indicates that the item was electroplated. Electroplating is like paint, and creates a smooth, reflective, mirror-like surface on the exterior, and in crevices.
A matte finish stamp, on the other hand, is rough, irregular, unreflective, and hat to be created by a tool strike, electropencil, or laser engraving. The presence of cheap finishing techniques indicates
