I saw a rabbit get hit by a car on my way to work two days ago. I get to work about 5:30am so it was pretty dark and i live in a rural area. The rabbit was stunned in the road and i swerved to avoid it and succeeded.
I slowed down as fast as i could and reversed to find it, hopping it was okay. The rabbit was unfortunately not okay and had limped to the side of the road and was licking its injured leg.
it really upset me.
I knew it wouldn't survive the day as there are many predators in the area and thats just life in the country. It turned its back to me almost like it knew what i was thinking, and as my truck was idling and i was nervous about discharging a firearm so close to the road, i drew my weapon and fired. i couldnt leave this rabbit to suffer. I shot it in the back of the head/upper torso with my .45 and it dropped immediately.
Its really hard for me to kill animals im not going to eat. Its even harder to watch them suffer. Its been two days and i keep thinking about this rabbit.
Theres so much suffering in the world sometimes i just cant stand it.
I hope someone executes me one day.
