i think it really depends on luck and whether the area you visit happens to have ticks in it or not. i've been to some backwoods places, where there is no way anybody is spraying against ticks and i've only ever gotten a tick twice in my life. the second time was from a single walk i took in the forest that lasted just about 3 hours. when i came back there must have been four or five ticks on me. i threw two out of the car's window then when i came back home i saw one in my bed after i had taken a nap and then finally i discovered the last one stuck to my side
