Why are athiests so nihilistic about their beliefs? If I truly didn't believe in a higher power, I wouldn't be celebrating that. I'd be upset knowing that everything in my life was unimportant and that no matter what I do I'm completely worthless in the long run. Yet most athiests I've talked to seem to take pride in not believing in a higher power, and mock others for wanting the comfort that faith brings.
