that's wild, literally everyone uses them here no matter what education level they're at. obviously they're most useful for vocabulary, but they're easy to apply to anything that you can break down into individual pieces of information. using flash cards like "who was george washington? - the first president of the united states" in preparation for history tests is pretty much standard practice, for example
personally i believe using flash cards are unbelievably effective for zoomerbrain in particular, so i even use them for things like grammar to extreme success.
