i think if that were the case they would just turn the world into a nuclear wasteland
because humanity would still be able to somewhat exist in that environment while being way less in number, and obviously not in very comfortable conditions
like some group of people somewhere would still be surviving somehow
cause its just how humanity rolls
so that sounds pretty optimal to me
but actually we are kind of nearing M.A.D. right now so who knows maybe we're coming to their endgame
they wanna make humanity reach peak comfort first and then make the nukes blast off so we reminisce of better times and that makes our suffering way worse after the nuclear wasteland comes along?
idk sounds kind of petty to me because that comfort would be long forgotten after just a single generation of people come and go anyhow
and maybe the overall happiness will be more because of salvaged technology after the nuclear war, if you started it before many advancements came through then people would have a worse time in that wasteland and therefore suffer more, right?
