If they were consistent they would have translated it as
What will be the sign…of the end of the eternity/forever? .
A better translation would be…
What will be the sign…of the end of the age?
The end of the age would be the return of Jesus, the second coming.
Matthew 28:20 King James Version
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world [aion]. Amen.
If they were consistent, they would have translated it as
I am with you…to the end of the eternity/forever.
A better translation would be…
I am with you…to the end of the age.
Luke 16:8 King James Version
8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world [aion] are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
If they were consistent they would have translated it as
...the sons of this eternity/forever are more shrewd.
A better translation would be…
...the sons of this age are more shrewd.
Think about this, there is a present aion, and a future aion, you cannot have a present eternity, and a future eternity or a present forever and a future forever, you can have a present age and a future age, and that’s what aion means, an age, an indefinite period of time.
