I personally think this is a byproduct of more intense movie, television and media content, a desensitization that retards social abilities. But it goes deeper than that when you consider educational systems which encourage false virtue signaling in it's pupils. Where's before, such virtues were organically developed by interaction of parents, church and traditional culture - now they are the province of school indoctrination. Young people are left with school programming and media programming in a toxic soup of non traditional culture.
