i think even spamming aside it's pretty gross from the perspective that it's literally just a manual ad. it sort of undermines whatever the indented purpose of wherever you're posting to turn everyone into a potential customer instead of a peer.
doing it in a game is the worst by far. you're essentially saying "look i know you're trying to have fun playing a video game, but i'm more interesting so stop playing the game and spend you're time watching me play it instead." in a way that completely intrudes on someone else's leisure time
