I'd much rather live on a boat. I spent almost 2 years on a sailboat like pic related a Macgregor 26. It only drafted about 1' of water with the ballast empty. I could pull up into little inlets at low tide, beach it, and then sail away when the tide came back. Go to little beach towns around the Florida gulf, find a little work, almost no living cost, save money.
If I got tired of people I'd sail just over the horizon, anchor down, and drink rum, fish, smoke weed, spend all day naked. Two little solar panels would power my laptop for movies and old school games. I could stay as long as my water and lemon juice lasted. Also, it's pretty easy to get girls back to a boat vs a van.
Boat life is better than van life.
