If you truly live in the absolute middle of nowhere, they'll have no independence whatsoever since you'll need to drive them for the slightest social interaction, and they will probably end up as a hopeless loner. By the time they turn 16 it may or may not be too late.
Luckily for OP, there is a compromise: live in a small town. Many are dense enough to have an urban "feel," you can walk places, there are plenty of other kids around, BUT you are also a 5 minute walk from natural beauty and no joggers.
