long ago the people of britain and ireland were of the same stock
then the island of britian got invaded sevral times, adding foreign DNA to their genepool, only a small percentage, but they also added their culture.
the native britons adopted this culture heavily, and even started adopting the english language.
Because of this they started to view their invaders identities as their own. And started to hate the native british culture that came before them. They also started to hate features associated with the native british stock that werten't really found in the invaders (like red hair)
Since the people of ireland were also of the same undiluted stock as the old british people were (with minor changes over due to their time spent isolated from britian, as is normal in seperated populations), the new british started to hate the irish people.
They reminded them that they are not germanic, that they only have a tiny slither of british DNA. But most of all they reminded them of their past culture and stock which they now shunned.
