Maybe I'm delusional, but the foreigners I interacted with were treated even better than normal, since our hospitality and all that.
But anyway, after some time has passed everyone would be used to him living there, that's always what happens, no matter the nationality, race or anything else. As long as he's a reasonable man that is.

It'll be a bit easier to just be able to communicate, but still, you're English, our languages are really, really different, know that. Still, I'd be optimistic if I were you. It's all gonna be alright, one way or another.
Poland has hit the bottom many times, yet was determined, always able to get up, sooner or later. That's one lesson worth taking away from our history I think.
