Red shield (this is what the name they took Rothschild means) is supposed to be an emblem for Sabbatean Frankists but I haven't been able to verify this. Sabbatean Frankists also intermarried a lot and accumulated large fortunes iirc which would explain why some of their intellectuals (or those close to their cause) would receive financing. Moses Hess for example hired Karl Marx, although I'm unsure whether he was "merely" a Labor Zionist or a full-blown Sabbatean Frankist as well. The ties between Frankfurt School and that whole deconstruction and critical theory business is certainly Sabbatean Frankist-influenced. And several key USA figures seem to have been in on that kind of degenerate kabbalah mysticism as well.
