I enjoyed each and every port call we made in Japan. There are some facets of culture in Japan that are wonderful. There are other facets that are hard to deal with. Japan is a place I thoroughly enjoy visiting but I would be reluctant to emigrate there.
I remember sitting and studying the bronze Buddha in Kamakura. A bronze that modern engineering would have trouble reproducing that was built when my own ancestors were painting themselves with woad and giving Roman invaders a hard time.
Americans tend to be clueless about the depth of culture in countries that have more than a 200 year history.
