>>11206503I used to visit my family in Bremen and Aachen as a child, but the last visit rubbed me the wrong way so I'll abstain from revisiting. The ONLY reason I maintain a German passport is for the Kindergeld gibs for my kids. 20%+ of Bremen is of foreign ancestry. This means every 1/5 of all persons I encounter on future visits will not be Germans. The ENTIRE town where I currently live in rural Ohio is of German ancestry and English is a secondary language. I'm so happy to have left New York to be surrounded by my people...even if they are inbred anabaptists.
