The kinetic energy of atoms determine how hot or cold it is. certain material is harder to heat up because they have stronger intermolecular bonds and some like polymers which are big chains of hydrocarbons are just lots of atoms bonded to each other. i heard that when you get a superconducting material the electrons start to go in pairs of two and stop repulsing other electrons. so the resistance in the material becomes 0. i havent studied mostly normal particles so idk much about other particles that arent like the typical ones we know so muych about. have fun day
