>>12069123there isn't really any gameplay no. there are barely even "puzzles"
if i were to liken it to any game it would probably be return of the bora dinn actually. you just sort of sail from place to place, then wander around digging up artifacts and translating engravings on them until you've deduced where you can go stand to get the end credits, then keep on digging up more stuff until you're satisfied that you know what the story of the game is before you actually go walk to the credits screen.
so the ""gameplay"" consists of walking around and clicking on things to hear the protagonist and sidekick talk about it or get some text that you get to decipher.
the latter is actually really cool, since they made a real artificial language for the game that uses a logographic script and you "decipher" text by guessing what each word is, and it doesn't tell you if you're right or not until you've found several instances of that word that are consistent with your guess.
the story is actually very cool even if it does have some parts about muh oppression, and the delivery swings wildly between hand hold-y and impossible to decipher sometimes. for the most part it's closer to the dark souls meme where the "story" is an insane amount of lore that you'll get a general understanding for playing the game, then have to consult the autistic hivemind pouring over every single piece of text in the game if you want to actually understand anything
i'd say objectively it's like a 6 or 7/10 story game, but the idea is so niche that anyone who isn't immediately drawn in by "archaeology/linguistics lore game" will despise it and anyone who is will be blown away
it's also ugly as sin generally, but has really pretty (and boring) sailing portions
