I know that's probably one of the reasons they gave him corticosteroids but if he starts refusing food again they may be able to give him something else like I think some antihistamines have a side effect that increases appetite a lot but idk much about vetinary medicine.
I'm sure they have already taken bloods but it could be a good idea to check for toxins if they havent already, he may have eaten something or a creature that had eaten something poisonous thats not checked for in their standard tests.
hopefully you never even have to figure out what's wrong and he just gets better with the steroids, food and rest.
