>>20930066Isabella watches in dismay as Masala spouts the pool water from her mouth. And when Lottie’s attempts to retrieve her from the pool result in the redhead encountering great difficulty, she audibly groans. But at least now Masala will have no choice but to get out of the pool.
But to Isabella’s surprise, Masala shows no interest in helping her friend. Unwilling to risk having to explain to Priscilla why there’s a corpse in her pool, Isabella dives in and swims to Lottie, grabbing her. A flailing arm nearly hits the mansion’s chief of staff upside the head, but the distance to the edge of the pool is short enough to be covered without any further incident, and she is eventually able to pull Lottie out.
As Lottie coughs up water, Isabella turns to Masala. “You think you’re going to live here? So you want to be an Angel then.” Isabella folds her arms. “Priscilla is ruthless, and values that in others. But that ruthlessness is always to be directed to enemies. Not allies, because the trait Madame Divine values above all else, is loyalty. So if she saw the way you abandoned your friend to drown, she’d never even consider giving you the chance to align yourself with the Angels.”
Isabella narrows her eyes. “If you get out of the pool within ten seconds, I won’t tell Madame Divine about your lapse in judgement. I’ll prepare guest rooms for you and your friend to stay in until her arrival, inform her of your wish to become an Angel, and she’ll decide what to do with you.” She grins, and points toward a sniper in the distance. “But if you remain in the pool, you’ll be shot with a tranquiliser and wake up in the dungeons under this place, and when Madame Divine returns, your dream of becoming an Angel will turn into a nightmare, and she will punish you as she sees fit. The choice is yours.”
