But it's fucked up just how flippantly a lot of the left take the issue; it should be a serious decision whenever we have to restrict freedom. We want to live in society because the gains, like certain freedoms, outweigh the cost, like losing other certain freedoms, and anything that potentially shifts the norms and shifts the terms of the contract has to be taken very cautiously (because we don't want to give more needless power to government, nor do we want to be normalised into a new worse precedent).
