>>12026902It is true, if you don't show your works then you probably have no faith. Though in order to be saved all you need is faith.
Jesus job isn't to convert the sinner, but to save you by believing on Him. The job of converting you as a sinner is the job of the Holy Spirit.
First you believe, that doesn't make you better than anyone else, "lest any man should boast". It also doesn't mean you are not a sinner, it means you admitted to sin. Many Christians mistakenly believe they are better than others, God is no respecter of persons. Being a Christian means you follow Christ, that means you give up all flesh and worldly things and die with Christ, which also means not boasting that you are no longer a sinner, that you are better than everyone else. As Christians we still sin, that is why we needed Jesus to begin with and admitted to it. It is only with patience and the work of the Holy Spirit that we may be converted into a righteous being, made Holy unto the Father. That is the what the baptism represents, being sealed by Jesus blood and washed in it. This isn't instantaneous, it is a life long commitment. Your salvation though is instantaneous, salvation requires nothing but faith because of grace.
