It's wild, I had to even debate wether I cared enough to respond to this thread. I don't think these people realize how apathetic some of us have become to this. Like, it sucks from a cultural standpoint, and it's perhaps worth fighting for simply so they don't have free brainwash range on the younger generations, but I've completely checked out of new games. I won't support people that hate me and my family, the games are objectively worse in almost every way, the stories are just fanfiction tier, and most importantly, I realized that there are actual fulfilling ways to both have fun and live my life that aren't merely sitting behind a closed door and tricking myself that I'm having fun or getting some serotonin hits by completing meaningless quests.
One of my biggest regrets when I had a NDE was all the time I wasted playing video games and how much of my life I wasted behind a screen. If they want to subvert that and create addictions for their own ilk, let em. Hopefully it just pushes more people like me out so we can actually live our lives in meaningful, fulfilling ways.
