I tend to evaluate things on how harmful they are on the environment in general. People with severe and lifelong depression, schizophrenia and/or other debilitating conditions still tend to be good people in general, while psychopathy, sociopathy and behavioural disorders with malicious intent need to be much more severely monitored. Generally it tends to be the other way around, making people ostracize the otherwise somewhat normal, but largedly crestfallen people going through mental rehabilitation. Their life is tough enough as is, making their life easier is the humane thing to do.
