>>11692142Growing up I thought I had a good relationship with my dad but slowly realized he wasn't the best dad or best person. He did his job of providing, but a complete asshole along the way, cheating on my mom and taking out loans on her name behind her back, "borrowing" money from others but never paying back, pathological liar, rarely taking us out, etc. I thankfully didn't grow up fucked up or getting into trouble, I just learned to handle my shit without crying out injustice. I'm in my mid 20s so dad basically said his job as a father is done and went his own way but still tries to keep in contact. I will of course mourn when he dies and thank him for trying his best. It just made me realize how important father figures are and will do my absolute best to give my future children a proper father-child relationship.
