>i still only remember them by the configuration of the first and last letters and their lengths.well that's pretty likely to happen with any name you don't literally know already to be honest. it's extremely common for people not to be able to tell you what the names of characters in anime they watch are because they just recognize the shape of them when they read it. that doesn't mean it doesn't at all mean that they're not establishing a sort of "feeling" for the way the languages work.
if for example i were to build one language for dwarvish and one for elvish both from the ground up and players couldn't really remember the names of any elves or dwarves but would know what race someone is the first time i said there name then it's still achieved its goal.
