keep going anon. you can do it. You've gone this long you can do longer
I'm on a year and a half sober now, I will never drink again. Though I often have nightmares that I get "tricked" into drinking
I used to drink 8-12 pints a day in beer, alternating between that and hard liquor for about seven years. Then one day I started feeling a REAL pain in my upper right part of my abdomin. It literally scared me straight.
I didn't quit cold turkey. I bought thiamin (vitamin B) because I read that alcoholics lack that and it would help with withdrawal symptoms. i took that and gradually reduced the amount I was drinking every night until I stopped completely. Took about two weeks give or take. Went from 12 pints, to six, to three to two to one... then none. Everytime I got the urge to drink I would get a glass of water instead. I felt some withdrawals but it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. Very bearable since I had a real pain that was motivation enough to stop.
Then a few weeks later of no drinking, the pain stopped. I believe it was a fatty liver. I lost a good 40lbs in the coming months too but I've retardedly put it back on thanks to junk food and soda, something else I need to work on. But hey, it beats dying of a ruptured liver.
Godspeed anon.
