Bear in mind, too, that diseases affect different individuals in different ways. I assure not all of rabies' victims became hydrophbic. What I do wonder though, is if other diseases or afflictions which deteriorate your mind in such aggressive a manner also cause hydrophobia. That is for you to look up, I can't be asked for more after this comment. But my guess is that rabies is not the only brain-destroying process which causes hydrophobia.
