>>16020331I doubt there's much that I can say about the movie itself that hasn't been said a million times before. I always found it a bit of a plothole how nothing really happens to Travis after the assassination attempt that he pulled, but maybe I'm just remembering things wrong.
Oh, I think the scene where he takes the girl he's interested into a porn theater is really underrated. Like, people talk about how uncomfortable some scenes in movies are, but I never hear that particular one getting mentioned. I recall kind of clearly how unsettling it was to me when I watched it, I think I just wanted to skip through it because I found it way too weird, lol. Imagine going to a theater like a completely normal couple, except that it's an almost empty porn theater with people shamelessly pleasuring themselves right behind where you're sitting, more likely than not enjoying your presence there. Especially since you've brought a woman along. And, being the woman in that situation, just seeing how the person that took you here is acting like nothing is wrong with it, and as if you're just having some quality time. It's just the most uncomfortable scene I've ever came across, like, damn. Not that I watch a lot of movies, but, still.
I suppose that it also shows how oblivious Travis is on a deeper level, than just what transpired.
His mind just absolutely set in stone with the thought that the city is depraved and needs to be washed away of the filth, but he can't see the same wrong in anything that he does. He can do no wrong, because he believes himself to be the pure one amongst a city of filth. He's the one who fought for his country, didn't succumb to having to commit crime, and even took it up to himself to fight back against ones who have. Because he's so right in those things, he must be with everything that he thinks, there's no reason to change.
Therefore, hookers are wrong and vile, but taking a woman to a degenerate porn theater for a date isn't. Char lim.
