>>20089474Reminder that the verse from Revelation quoted here (which has to be quoted twice because the New Testament is so bereft of anything that even sounds anti-Semitic) is directed at a specific church of Christians in Smyrna and references a specific group in their area who "claim they are Jews but are not." It is often presented on /pol/ as being a blanket condemnation of Jews, but in context in the book is nothing of the sort. This section is Jesus allegedly penning letters (through the prophet who wrote the book) to various sects of Christians who were around at the time. Biblical scholars are still not sure who exactly was meant to be indicted by this passage.
Not that the book itself is too reputable, since Revelation barely made it into the canon as-is and was regarded with suspicion for ages, to the point where even Martin Luther was still having doubts about it over a thousand years later.
But like most things quoted on /pol/, the words in context are entirely different from how they're used here.
