i just dont think a von neuman replicator sending civilization would even use a probe , it would just fire a steady stream of replicators at all nearby systems letting the replicators reach the systems ballisticly , its cheaper , simpler and gets you replicators on every body on the system , even small shit that you cant see from your home system due to not having a 100AU diameter telescope.
