Some can be rather dull, so learn how to speed read. History, particularly european and your own countries history as well as the history of whatever it is you are currently doing (like knowing the history of whisky or beer at a bar) always goes over well. Just dont be snobbish or showy about it, no one likes a knowitall. Also make sure you have read the classics or fiction like frankenstein, treasure island, lord of the flies, etc.
