If they wanted to introduce themselves to humans, they would probably come along with "native" guides (that is to say, with humans who've spent enough time between them to know their language and their customs, who can serve as their representatives).
But believing that life on Earth and technology are all a product of an alien civilization molding it and slowly feeding bits of knowledge to humans seems too pathetic to me, as if our species was completely incapable of arising on its own on this planet and had no potential for developing stuff without greater guidance.
