I don't really get this whole brainlet take of steam being evil? They didn't come up with game licensing ( MS was already doing this shit on xbox ). They have been working for a long while to make gaming available on platforms like linux to get away from the microsoft kikery.
They seem to be looking out for customers to a certain extent example the day before debacale of last week they froze the funds and refunded every one instead of letting that studio do a rugpull.
There is also this cope going around about steam being a monopoly but thats just not true they do control the majority share but that is not because they enforce that EA, Ubisoft, Epic games etc all have launchers and game stores but people dont want to buy from them because they offer a lower quality product than steam there is nothing preventing epic from using the billions they spend on buying out game rights and use it to fix their store and dethrone steam but they wont because they dont give a shit about your experience and just want to bait you into their eco system so they can expose you to fortnite and thats where the real money is made.
If Valve starts doing anti-consumer shit i'll be the first one to yell about it but they seem to be one of the least kiked out corporations around in the space
