This makes the theory consistent with current state of CHina. They are smart/capable enough to compete yet support the communist regime because that form of communism is backed by ethno nationalism and a common identity that they can work for.
So its really ironic that in the West the communists are almost always staunch "anti-racist" which means their vision of communism could never work. For communism to work you need a common identity to act as glue and create some incentive for individuals to want to work for the greater good.
