If you are not used to religious practice and feel awkward just start with the Lord's Prayer / Our Father and have to a few days it will feel very natural.
Another tip: any thought of "God hates me", "God will condemn ne", "I can't be forgiven / don't deserve forgiveness", "It's too late for me so I may as well give in", "There's no point in praying because God won't hear me anyway" — all these negative thoughts are absolutely demonic and you need to have the mental wherewithal to discern them and reject them at their source. Don't be mind-gamed. No matter how far you've fallen or continue to fall, you persevere. God is not a perfectionist and he's not impatient. If you have the will to reform you're already more than half way there, no matter how often you stumble.
