>>19537958>Yeah I don't watch Alex Stein's normal stuff, I thought that he was just an occasionally-funny political hack, but his performance here and during S1 improved my opinion of him.>He actually knows something about running a show and keeping people entertained, and it really contrasted with the Sam and Jet.Alex Stein adores reality TV as a medium and I believe was part of a production crew of a reality TV show. He understands that these kind of shows need structure and a lot of planning in advance for the contestants to understand and navigate around. When the rules change LITERALLY HOURLY the contestants just clam up and go dormant, which is exactly what happened to a lot of the fish. Either they got frustrated like Cole with recycled bits being done at their expense, sperged the fuck out like Jimmy or just couldn't adapt to the constant changing dynamic like Brian or Tay who would try scheming only for the entire show to shift gears and ruin whatever they were in the middle of, making them look boring and stupid. The only constant in S2 was the mean spirited humiliation shit that even Tay just refused to be apart of by the end and refused to piss her pants twice, something she probably would have done so in the middle of the season.
Just take the fucking finale for example, Tay realizes the night before that chips are the deciding factor and decides to go all-in, maximum expenditure each round. She even steals TJ's chips to make it an even more formidable lead in chips. One of the early rounds Tay buys both a curse and brian, Brian walks up and eliminates TJ from the round and then Jet comes and changes the rules, only one NPC action per round, tough luck! Rules changed again! Later on Sam to asks all three what they thought the rules changed to and he gets three radically different answers. The gagline of the show is that the fish seriously want to win the money and will do anything for it, but by making it so unstable they can never be funny.
