You're going to have to confront this and make a decision for yourselves. Nobody else can do it for you. It's your life, your choice, but the last thing you want to do is grow old and regret what could've been.
I don't really care why this kind of thing happens. Whether it's something in the structure of our brains, or something went wrong in utero, or a mutation, I don't know. Doesn't matter. The mind is what matters, everything else is just flesh, and its yours to do with what you will.
