anyway, they do probably suffer from neglect somewhat in that the gubmint doesn't give those areas enough moneys but rural people are mostly simple by nature anyway and i don't really feel like i need to make excuses for that, it is what it is.
it still blows my mind that some bumpkin in a village in slovenia somehow ended up being interested in maps and history and linguistics and kpoop and shit. most ruralites i meet you can't really find too many topics of conversation with.
